Secrets of the mental game!
If you wish to sincerely and profoundly embrace what you LOVE, go back to your “child-like” wonder and enthusiasm. Be a kid for the day …
– Suck your thumb
- Drag a “blanky” around
- Talk about “poop” and “pee pee”
- Pick your nose
- Go skipping
- Pass gas in public … Oh! You already do that.
Even as I jest, there is an element of that carefree state of mind that I admire about children. The ability to be “stress free” with no bills to pay, no boss to deal with, mouths to feed, a difficult spouse or significant other, arthritis or taxes. It’s a pretty cool feeling.
Yet, even though we may be encumbered by various “adult” oriented stresses, it is often HOW you perceive them that is half the battle.
There is more truth in the cliche: “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” than you may realize. Beauty is also within the images of your life…you just need to discover it.
If you were to take a moment and look at the world through a child’s eyes, what would you see?
Here’s help!
3 Steps to acting:
1) As a stress reliever, ask yourself, “What is the ‘funnest’ thing you could do today?”
2) Remember or figure out how to:
- Find the greener pasture
- Dust off your creativity
- Live in the now
- Think thoughts you thought were possible and imagine what life would be like when you ran your brain like you used to BEFORE you became polluted with poster sized signs that say, I CAN’T! I WON’T! IMPOSSIBLE! NOT ME! WHY ME?
Repeat, right now:
“I CAN!”
“I WILL!”
“IT’S POSSIBLE!”
“YES, ME!”
“YAY ME!”
3) Imitate: I understand you’ve become old, decrepit and crotchety; therefore, I’ve pulled together a couple of my expert assistants to help you recall what it was like to free yourself for an hour or two, or three.
