Hi Syndi!
That was an excellent addition to the article.
So glad you elaborated on your experience, it's a very viable option to add to your nutritional arsenal even as a protective approach, in addition to the "get out of pain" treatment. I even give it to my larger breed dogs to help protect their joints.
This is such a vital tool in the manangement of cartilage, ligament and tendon health that it was included in "Secrets of the Game," Chapter 7, page 96 - Ultimate Food and Nutritional Supplement Strategies.
Great stuff, Syndi, I hope more folks try these simple, nutritional tips.

Excellent post! As I read it, I traveled in my mind from how attached I was to THINGS and IDEAS that I thought were valuable. I was stuck and limited. I was frequently in tears over one thing or another. Once I learned to detach (as opposed to being apathetic) I was able to recover from all kinds of losses. It took years to go from learned attachment to my original childlike freedom. Funny thing, though. I also learned to embrace, and look forward to, the gains which are much more numerous than the losses. It all depends on what direction you put your focus on. Case in point, congratulations are in order for your success with the infomercial deal! Keep up the good work, Dr. B.

Hey Spence,
Long time ... enjoy the articles! As a 3 time marathoner and female with the short legs, I know and understand the mechanics of having to run longer and take more steps than typical long distance runners. I'm not fast by any means and somehow take pride in running my first marathon in 6 hours 44 minutes . . . imagine running for that length of time . . . now that REALLY is a marathon!! I have had my share of ACL reconstructions and arthroscopic cleanings. As of late, I too have been having extreme discomfort in the knee cap and below the knee. I am having it in both knees to some degree. As an extremely active person; runner, rock climber, snowboarder, hiker . . . I need my knees, no doubt about it. So I did what most of us do and tried to find the best Ortho Dr. in town to 'fix' me, quick, so I could get back to playing. But when I had the x-ray's and MRI's, what they found wasn't so compelling to necessitate surgery. So I decided since I hate rehab, I needed to find another way, so I went online. I found two things: one is Glucosamine (2000 mg), Chondroitin (1200 mg) and MSM (500 mg). You can get it in pill or liquid but liquid always absorbs better into the body. I found a lot of brands as well and some very expensive but in the end, I found that you can buy it in liquid form at Costco for $18.99 and they have $5.00 off sale every so often (even better!!). The second product I am currently trying with it is called H.A. Joint through Purity Products but the idea is Hyaluronic Acid. (it's those 5AM mornings when there's nothing else on the radio but pharmaceutical infomercials!!) It's purpose is to put lubrication through the joints to make the 'bone on bone' sensation cease from happening when you run, giving you a pleasant running experience again. I'll be honest, I was in such excruciating pain on a daily basis that even just plain walking at work was difficult. When I would hike, going downhill was so painful that I had to buy a walking stick (talking about feeling old!!) and running was almost out of the question because the pain was so bad. But I have been doing this regiment for 5 weeks now and the daily pain I felt is gone. I have not done any rehab nor orthotics at this point. I am going to see a rheumatologist to consider shots for placing fluid in the knee and then a new program that grows back cartilage I am considering. I do have actual things wrong, like I do have excess fluid in a place I shouldn't and I have a broken line where I should have a connected line . . . but before any of that . . . I have my first sprint duathalon coming up in 2 weeks . . . lots of running and biking!!! Can't wait and I feel so good and ready for it and I know it is only because of these products I have been taking. Just wanted to share in case you or any of your friends were feeling any of the things I mentioned, these are some non-surgical and inexpensive ways to test before you make BIG decisions with your health. All the best, Syndi
